Sensor fusion

This app displays your device's 3D orientation using a 3D compass visualization.

It showcases the power of various sensors and sensor fusion techniques. Gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass data are combined using different methods, resulting in a rotatable 3D compass that mirrors your device's movements.

A key innovation is the fusion of virtual sensors: "Improved Orientation Sensor 1" and "Improved Orientation Sensor 2." These fuse the Android Rotation Vector with a virtual gyroscope, achieving remarkably stable and precise pose estimation.

For comparison, the app also includes:

• Improved Orientation Sensor 1 (fuses Android Rotation Vector and calibrated gyroscope; less stable, but more accurate)
• Improved Orientation Sensor 2 (fuses Android Rotation Vector and calibrated gyroscope; more stable, but less accurate)
• Android Rotation Vector (Kalman filter fusion of accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass)
