ESO dévoile 2025 mises à jour saisonnières

ZeniMax Online transit The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) de son modèle de DLC de chapitre annuel à un nouveau système de mise à jour de contenu saisonnier. Ce changement introduira les saisons nommées, chacune durable de 3 à 6 mois et mettant en vedette de nouveaux récits, objets et donjons. L'objectif est d'offrir un contenu plus diversifié et des mises à jour plus fréquentes.

Pendant des années, ESO s'appuie sur une version annuelle du DLC, complétée par des mises à jour plus petites. Cependant, après son dixième anniversaire, Zenimax a décidé de réorganiser sa stratégie de contenu. L'annonce du réalisateur de studio Matt Firor détaille un système de sorties semestrielles, chaque saison mélangeant des arcs narratifs, des événements, des objets et des donjons. Cela permet à Zenimax de diversifier ses offres de contenu tout au long de l'année, selon Firor.

Cette nouvelle approche de développement modulaire permet un déploiement plus agile de mises à jour, de corrections de bogues et de nouveaux systèmes. Contrairement à certains jeux saisonniers avec du contenu temporaire, les mises à jour saisonnières de l'ESO présenteront des quêtes, des histoires et des lieux persistants, comme l'a confirmé l'équipe ESO sur Twitter.

Un modèle de livraison de contenu plus fréquent

Zenimax vise à rompre avec le cycle de contenu traditionnel, à favoriser l'expérimentation et à libérer des ressources pour l'amélioration des performances, l'équilibre des ajustements et les conseils améliorés des joueurs. Le nouveau contenu s'intègre dans les zones de jeu existantes, publiées par incréments plus petits par rapport au modèle annuel précédent. Les plans futurs comprennent également des améliorations visuelles (textures et art), une mise à niveau de l'interface utilisateur PC et des améliorations des systèmes de carte, d'interface utilisateur et de tutoriel.

Un changement stratégique pour l'engagement des joueurs à long terme

Ce changement reflète le paysage évolutif des MMORPG et l'engagement des joueurs. Avec les studios en ligne de Zenimax développant une nouvelle IP, un calendrier de communication de contenu plus fréquent - dispensant de nouvelles expériences tous les quelques mois - permet d'améliorer la rétention à long terme des joueurs à travers diverses données démographiques pour l'ESO.
