Josef Fares Reveals Key Details About Split Fiction in Recent Interview

Josef Fares, the head of Hazelight Studios, recently provided exciting insights into their upcoming game, Split Fiction, during an interview with MinnMax. He reaffirmed the studio's steadfast commitment to steering clear of live-service models and microtransactions. Fares also made it clear that Hazelight has no plans to go public or be acquired by a larger corporation, stating:

"We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."

Fares revealed that the central storyline of Split Fiction is expected to last around 12-14 hours, a duration similar to that of their previous hit, It Takes Two. Including optional missions and additional content, players can enjoy up to 16-17 hours of gameplay.

While Hazelight is renowned for its co-op games, Fares hinted at the potential exploration of single-player titles in the future. He also mentioned that the development budget for Split Fiction is double that of It Takes Two. Despite the increased investment, the studio remains committed to a complete experience at launch, with no plans for post-launch DLC, ensuring all features are available from day one. Split Fiction is set to launch globally on March 6th, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
