Team Fortress 2 Code Now Open for Modding

The gaming industry owes a lot to modders. Without them, we wouldn't have the MOBA genre, which originated from mods of RTS games like StarCraft and Warcraft III. Auto battlers also sprang from MOBAs like Dota 2, and the wildly popular Battle Royale genre was kickstarted by a mod for ARMA 2.
