LEGO Unveils In-House Gaming Ventures

Author:Kristen Update:May 13,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has recently unveiled ambitious plans to broaden the iconic toy brand's footprint in the digital realm by venturing into video game development. This strategy involves creating games both in-house and through strategic partnerships, showcasing LEGO's commitment to providing engaging experiences for children across digital and physical platforms.

“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” Niels Christiansen

While LEGO is stepping into game development independently, it will continue to license its brand to third-party developers. For example, journalist Jason Schreier recently reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is developing a new LEGO game, likely linked to one of Warner Bros.' franchises.

Currently, LEGO's most notable gaming endeavor is its collaboration with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year became an instant hit, significantly enhancing the game's appeal.

LEGO has also built a strong legacy with the adventure game series developed by TT Games over the past two decades. Although recent projects from the studio have been less publicized, there are whispers of a new LEGO Harry Potter game in development, fueled by the success of the commercially successful LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Moreover, LEGO's partnership with 2K Games led to the release of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game that debuted last year, further demonstrating the brand's adaptability and innovation within the gaming industry.
