The developer of *inZOI* has issued a heartfelt apology for incorporating Denuvo DRM into the game and has pledged to remove it. Dive into the details of the developer's statement and their vision for creating a game that embraces modding.
The team behind inZOI has officially announced the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Over the past 24 hours, reports surfaced that the Creative Studio mode demo included this anti-tamper software. Denuvo has long been a contentious topic among gamers due to its potential impact on game performance.
This DRM and anti-tamper technology aims to combat unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it challenging for pirates to release cracked versions.
In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns, confirming that the upcoming Early Access build, set for release on Friday, will be free of any DRM technology. "We initially opted for Denuvo to safeguard the game from illegal distribution, believing it would promote fairness for players who purchased the game legitimately. However, after reviewing community feedback, we realized this was not in line with our players' expectations," Kjun explained.
Kjun also apologized for failing to inform players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. He noted that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked and distributed illegally, it would allow inZOI to be freely configurable, enabling players to customize and craft unique experiences. "We believe that offering this freedom from the start will foster innovative and lasting enjoyment for our community," he said.
The inZOI team has underscored the significance of modding in their game, which is why the inclusion of Denuvo puzzled many, as it hinders modding and customization.
Kjun reiterated, "As I mentioned during the Online Showcase, we are dedicated to making inZOI a highly moddable game. Our initial phase of official mod support will debut in May, enabling players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. This is just the beginning. We plan to expand mod support to various aspects of the game, allowing you to personalize and enrich your gaming experience in numerous ways."
He announced that a detailed post about modding would be forthcoming. Krafton continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure a top-quality gaming experience.
inZOI is scheduled to enter Early Access on March 28, 2025, on PC. The full launch will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At the time of writing, the full release date remains undisclosed.
