Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove an iconic feature of the last game. Why won't players be able to leave messages?

In a notable shift for FromSoftware, players will no longer have the ability to "leave a message" in the upcoming title, Elden Ring: Nightreign. Project director Junya Ishizaki elaborated on this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's session length as the primary reason. With each gaming session in Elden Ring: Nightreign designed to last approximately forty minutes, there simply isn't enough time for players to engage in the traditional message-based interactions that have become a hallmark of FromSoftware games.

"With sessions lasting roughly forty minutes, there isn't enough time to send your own messages or read other people's messages, therefore we disabled the messaging feature," Ishizaki explained. This decision marks a departure from the interactive elements that fans have come to love, as message-based communication has historically enriched the gameplay experience and fostered a sense of community among players.

Despite the removal of this feature, Elden Ring: Nightreign aims to maintain the atmospheric and intricate world-building that fans of the original Elden Ring adore. The game will not be a direct continuation of the Elden Ring narrative but will instead introduce a new adventure filled with unique challenges and encounters. This approach ensures that while Nightreign honors the essence of the original, it also offers fresh experiences for players to explore.
