Conquer the Lifer: A Wuthering Waves 2.0 Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0's Rinascita region introduces challenging new Tacet Discords, including the formidable Lifer – a uniquely buffed Chop Chop residing in Oakheart Highcourt's maze. This guide details how to overcome this challenging encounter.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer awaits in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath the massive tree's roots. Initially, not all maze entrances are accessible. A readily available entry point lies southwest, near the Oakheart Highcourt Resonance Beacon. Players can either climb the walls from the beacon or utilize the Flight function to bypass the maze.

Mastering the Lifer's Board Game

Inside, you'll find the Lifer beside a six-piece board game. The goal: connect three pieces before the Lifer does. You control black, the Lifer controls white. Crucially, the board game manipulates Oakheart Highcourt's maze walls. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls and gates in that direction. You can exit and resume the game at any point, preserving piece positions.

While not mandatory for combat, the board game is vital for buff removal. Avoid winning before removing buffs; the Lifer immediately attacks.

Neutralizing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer boasts seven buffs significantly increasing its resilience and damage output. Four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance; three are permanent. Examine these buffs via the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without being attacked.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase; additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance, stacking up to four times (stacks reset after 6 seconds without dealing damage).
  • Decay of Time: 200% increased resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Use the Sensor tool near the Lifer to locate four purple lines leading to four outer-ring rooms containing Stakes of Imbalance. Manipulate the board game to open the corresponding gates. Piece positions are saved after exiting the game.

Each room holds a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow). Two rooms require Tacet Discord defeats, one involves breaking Friable Rocks, and one has the Stake on a table. Place each Stake in the module in front of its statue to remove the associated buff (purple lines turn yellow on the Sensor).

The Final Confrontation

With all four removable buffs gone, the Lifer is significantly weaker. Initiate combat via the "Fight it out!" option or by winning the board game. Its attacks are less threatening.

First victory: Premium Supply Chest. Second victory: Premium Supply Chest + three Basic Supply Chests. Third victory: Advanced Supply Chest + three Standard Supply Chests.

Re-enable buffs for a tougher challenge (no achievements for this).

Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times (all nine chests).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's winning moves. It will eventually make a mistake.
