inZOI's Director Unveils Plans for Karma System and Ghostly Encounters

inZOI game director, Hyungjun Kim, recently revealed intriguing details about an upcoming Karma system that introduces a paranormal element to the game's realistic setting. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.

According to Kim, Zois who die with sufficient Karma points transition to the afterlife. However, those with insufficient points remain as ghosts, bound to the world until they accrue enough Karma to move on. The specific actions required to restore Karma points remain undisclosed.

The impact of these ghostly encounters will be carefully managed to avoid overshadowing core gameplay. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to specific times and conditions, primarily involving unique conversations.

Kim expressed a desire to explore more fantasy elements within inZOI's realistic framework, suggesting that these paranormal additions will add a unique layer of depth and enjoyment.

A Glimpse into Karma Interactions

A sponsored video by content creator MadMorph offered a sneak peek at the Karma Interaction system. This system allows players to perform actions that either increase or decrease a Zoi's Karma score. MadMorph demonstrated a humorous example – secretly farting on another Zoi's face – which resulted in a negative Karma impact. The video also hinted at positive actions, such as disposing of trash or liking a friend's post, although these weren't shown in detail.

While the Early Access release (March 28, 2025 on Steam) will primarily focus on the living Zois' experiences, the Karma Interaction system promises to significantly expand gameplay possibilities in future updates.
