CDPR räumte ein schwaches Gameplay in The Witcher 3 ein

The Witcher 3 war zwar von der Kritik hochgelobt, aber nicht ohne Mängel. Viele Fans waren der Meinung, dass das Kampfsystem unzureichend war.

In einem aktuellen Interview räumte Sebastian Kalemba, Game Director von Witcher 4, Schwächen im Gameplay des Vorgängerspiels ein und betonte insbesondere die Notwendigkeit erheblicher Verbesserungen der Kernspielschleife und der Monsterjagdmechanik. Er erklärte deutlich: „Wir wollen das Gameplay und das Monsterjagd-Erlebnis verbessern.“

Kalemba betonte, dass der Witcher 4-Trailer ein wirkungsvolleres und kraftvolleres Monsterkampferlebnis zeigen sollte, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf einer verbesserten Choreografie und emotionalen Intensität liegen sollte.

Für The Witcher 4 wird mit einer umfassenden Überarbeitung des Kampfsystems gerechnet. Beruhigenderweise erkennt CD Projekt Red (CDPR) die Unzulänglichkeiten der Kampfsysteme früherer Witcher-Spiele an und geht diese aktiv an. Diese Verbesserungen werden sich wahrscheinlich auch auf künftige Teile übertragen, insbesondere angesichts der zentralen Rolle von Ciri in der kommenden Trilogie.

Interessanterweise planen die Entwickler auch, Triss‘ Hochzeit in das Spiel zu integrieren. In Witcher 3 war die Quest „Ashen Marriage“ ursprünglich für Novigrad geplant. Die Handlung zeigt Triss‘ Zuneigung zu Castello und ihren Wunsch nach einer schnellen Heirat. Zu Geralts Rolle in dieser Erzählung gehört die Mithilfe bei den Hochzeitsvorbereitungen, etwa der Ausrottung von Monstern, der Beschaffung von Alkohol und der Auswahl eines Hochzeitsgeschenks.
