ArtClash is designed to motivate people to practice drawing, sketching, and cartooning every single day.
While it's a work in progress with the first game complete, many more updates are planned.
You can free draw anything you like, or select a topic or a series of topics, apply optional constraints like a time limit, color limit, or canvas size, create your piece, and earn points when others guess it correctly!
This is a solo project, created for my wife and myself to maintain a daily practice and to inspire others to do the same.
Current features:
• Paint - Sketch, Paint, and Blend colors
• Import images to use as references or to paint over
• Select topics and constraints, draw your interpretation, and gain points for each correct guess
• 6 levels of topic difficulty—from single words up to 5 different words (nouns, verbs, places, time periods)
• Choose from 3 constraints for bonus points: time limit, color limit, or canvas size
• Freely draw anything you imagine and share it with the community
• NSFW filter, allowing you to choose whether to view images others have marked as Not Safe For Work
Known early access issues and bugs:
• Basic UI: The Unity interface has been challenging; plans are to replace it with XAML for better responsiveness
• For optimal performance on lower-end devices, please keep canvas sizes under 1024x1024. The GPU-accelerated brush engine can slow with large canvases and small brushes. We are testing alternative engines and working on significant speed improvements.
Upcoming features:
• More games (starting with a drawing "telephone" game)
• Enhanced social features (custom avatars, comments on projects and finished games, friending and following)
• Improved UI and a faster brush engine (addressing the above issues)
• Marquee selection and transformation tools
• Additional brushes (support for custom brush textures and sharing)
• Advanced layer system (including lock transparent pixels and masking, beyond current basic layers)
• Developer communication hub: A feedback system for feature requests, bug reports, and community voting on upcoming changes
• Moderator roles: Community members can be promoted to help review flagged content and manage issues
• User submissions for topics and constraints: Contribute ideas that can be added to the pool after moderation
• Long-term vision: Full image editing, animation, scripting, and prototyping for games and storyboards.
Given current performance considerations with large textures and the evolving feature set, this app is optimized for social competition and encouragement rather than being a complete image editing suite at this stage.
