The Voodoo Doll offers a potentially favorable risk-reward ratio among Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions. While game updates have adjusted its effectiveness, it remains a valuable asset.

Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. This is achieved by sequentially inserting pins into the doll. This is particularly useful for evasive or inactive ghosts, prompting actions like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprint displays.

Ten pins can be inserted, each reducing the user's sanity by 5%. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt.

The most critical risk involves the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) ghost hunt near the user.

Despite the inherent risks, the Voodoo Doll's potential for evidence gathering makes it worthwhile for well-prepared players.

Cursed Possessions (often called "Cursed Objects") are unique items randomly spawning across Phasmophobia maps, influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while providing evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost at increased risk to the player.

The risk varies between objects, and their use is entirely optional. Only one Cursed Possession appears per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
