STALKER 2 has just received its most substantial update yet, featuring over 1,200 changes and fixes that tackle nearly every known issue in the game. Keep reading to discover the key improvements and what they enhance.
The horror-action immersive sim S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, commonly called STALKER 2, has rolled out Patch 1.3, aiming to deliver a significantly improved gameplay experience. Players can now return to a refined Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, with more than 1,200 adjustments and fixes covering everything from gameplay—such as combat mechanics and balance—to main and side quest corrections, hundreds of bug fixes, and performance enhancements for deeper immersion.
Developer GSC Game World has meticulously documented every change in the complete patch notes on the game’s official site. For players eager to jump back in or those short on time, the most critical highlights are summarized on the game’s Steam community page.

Key updates in this patch include combat improvements like smoother AI pathing for mutant enemies and enhanced ambush behaviors, raising the challenge as players navigate the Zone’s dangers. Archiartifacts have also been rebalanced—notably the Weird Kettle, which now applies a specific debuff based on the type of food consumed, eliminating its previous random effects.
Several critical bugs have been resolved, including one that allowed players to permanently stack effects from unequipped artifacts, various progression blockers in story and side quests, and NPC issues like missing guides or characters obstructing movement.
Following a challenging launch, GSC Game World remains committed to ongoing improvements. The patch notes conclude by encouraging players to report any "unexpected anomalies" to the Technical Support Center so the team can "investigate and eliminate threats to the Zone."

While 1,200 fixes in Patch 1.3 may sound extensive, it's consistent with STALKER 2’s update history. The previous update, Patch 1.2, introduced over 1,700 fixes—so many that the Steam page couldn’t list them all. However, Patch 1.1 remains the largest, delivering a massive 110 GB of content alongside 1,800 fixes.
With each major update bringing at least 1,000 fixes, the development team clearly has a full workload. Still, the declining number of fixes per patch indicates steady progress and fewer outstanding issues.
