Hungry Horrors Roguelite Deckbuilder Demo Hits Steam, Mobile Release Planned

Hungry Horrors, a whimsical roguelite deckbuilder from UK-based Clumsy Bear Studio, puts a fresh spin on gameplay by having players cook for monsters to satisfy their appetites. The game’s debut demo is now available on Steam.

Following its PC launch, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to bring Hungry Horrors to mobile devices and consoles. While no official release date has been announced, the demo is accessible on Steam, Itch, and GOG. The developers have also showcased the game at events like the London Game Festival 2025.

The Steam demo offers a robust preview of the game, featuring two distinct biomes, six ravenous monsters to feed, two boss encounters, and four NPCs for interaction. Players can also explore non-combat areas like the Nook and the Trove to strategize and refine their culinary creations.

Discover Hungry Horrors

In this game, you play as a princess crafting traditional British and Irish dishes to appease folklore creatures and avoid becoming their next meal. The title merges deckbuilding with culinary creativity in a delightfully unique way.

Featuring retro pixel art and a gothic atmosphere, the game’s humor shines through. Players whip up dishes like Bara Brith and Cranachan, tailoring each meal to suit the finicky tastes of various monsters.

These creatures, rooted in centuries-old legends, include terrors like Jenny Greenteeth, a swamp witch with a penchant for blood, and Black Annis, a hag known for snatching children with her iron claws. Fail to satisfy their cravings, and you might find yourself on the menu.

Gameplay involves learning each monster’s preferences—some adore sweets, while others recoil at certain ingredients. Expect to encounter figures like Grendel and Redcap, each with distinct culinary demands.

The deckbuilding mechanic adds depth, letting players combine ingredients and tools like spices to enhance dishes. Strategic planning is key to balancing flavors and perfecting recipes.

As you advance, you’ll unlock new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars. Visit the game’s Steam page for more details.
