Elden Ring Nightreign: Raider Class Hands-On - IGN First

Author:Kristen Update:May 20,2025

If you thrive on the thrill of wielding colossal strength and dominating the battlefield with massive weapons in games like *Elden Ring*, then the Raider class in *Nightreign* is tailored just for you. Check out the video below to see the Raider in action.

While the Guardian class is built for defense, equipped with a shield and a party-wide damage mitigation ultimate, the Raider stands out as an offensive juggernaut. The key ability for the Raider is Retaliate, which might seem modest with just two stomps that deliver physical and poise damage. However, its true strength lies in the Raider’s passive ability, which prevents knockback during Retaliate. This essentially provides a damage-soaking technique that lets you power through enemy attacks. Moreover, if you absorb a significant hit, the second stomp transforms into a devastating punch capable of staggering even the mightiest foes.

The Raider's ultimate, Totem Stela, unleashes a ground-slamming attack that summons a large totem, causing massive area damage. This powerful technique not only deals significant damage but also creates a climbable structure, offering a strategic vantage point or a safe haven for you and your teammates. Additionally, it provides a damage buff to everyone nearby, making it a crucial ability to coordinate with your team for maximum impact.

Starting with the Raider’s Greavtaxe, which inflicts fire damage and has the “Endure” skill for additional attack absorption, the Raider is primed for one-on-one battles. As you progress, upgrading to larger strength-scaling weapons will enhance your gameplay further. The Raider's unique Remembrances, which we'll delve into later, involve thrilling one-on-one boss fights in a gladiatorial arena, adding an exciting twist to the combat experience.

Among all the classes I've tried in *Nightreign*, the Raider has been the most enjoyable. Its design perfectly suits my preferred playstyle, and I'm eager to see what more the game has to offer.

Stay tuned throughout the month for in-depth looks at *Nightreign*'s mechanics, developer interviews, and more as part of IGN First's ongoing coverage.
