Cox Calls Out Least-Liked Daredevil Episode

Author:Kristen Update:Sep 15,2025

The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again underwent numerous revisions, yet interestingly, only Episode 5 remained completely unchanged—ironically the installment lead actor Charlie Cox considers his "least favorite" of the season.

"I don't know if this matters, but I'll mention that among all the changes, we kept one episode intact," Cox revealed during a recent conversation with The Playlist.

"It's the bank episode, part of our original shoot before the strike. While it stayed true to the initial draft, personally, I wasn't convinced by it."

Cox admitted he "resisted it as much as I reasonably could." The episode centers on Matt Murdock (Daredevil's civilian identity) becoming entangled in a bank heist while securing financing for his law firm with partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).

"The premise felt outdated—like something from a 1970s thriller," Cox explained. "Modern technology makes the scenario implausible, and I didn't find the robbery's execution convincing enough."

Despite his reservations, Cox acknowledged fans embraced the episode enthusiastically.

"I strongly opposed this episode, yet countless viewers tell me they adore it," Cox reflected. "It proves how subjective storytelling is—what doesn't work for me resonates deeply with others. Surprisingly, Disney's internal metrics rank it among their highest-rated shows."

Our review of Episodes 5 and 6 praised the installment: "Masterfully executed, this hour delivers nonstop entertainment while perfectly showcasing Matt Murdock's heroic essence—even without the Daredevil suit. Few Marvel productions have achieved this level of consistent engagement and sheer joy."
