Cox kritisiert unbeliebteste Daredevil-Folge

Der Weg vom Drehbuch zur Leinwand für "Daredevil: Born Again" durchlief zahlreiche Überarbeitungen, doch interessanterweise blieb nur Episode 5 völlig unverändert – ironischerweise die Folge, die Hauptdarsteller Charlie Cox als seine "am wenigsten geliebte" der Staffel bezeichnet.

„Ich weiß nicht, ob das von Bedeutung ist, aber ich erwähne mal, dass wir unter all den Änderungen eine Episode intakt gelassen haben“, verriet Cox kürzlich im Gespräch mit The Playlist.

„Es ist die Bank-Episode, Teil unserer ursprünglichen Dreharbeiten vor dem Streik. Obwohl sie dem ersten Entwurf treu blieb, konnte ich persönlich mich nicht so recht damit anfreunden.“

Play Cox gestand, er habe sich „so weit wie vernünftig möglich dagegen gewehrt“. Die Folge dreht sich darum, wie Matt Murdock (Daredevils zivile Identität) in einen Bankraub verwickelt wird, während er gemeinsam mit seinen Partnern Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) und Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) die Finanzierung für ihre Kanzlei sichert.

„Die Prämisse wirkte veraltet – wie aus einem Thriller der 1970er“, erklärte Cox. „Moderne Technologie macht das Szenario unglaubwürdig, und die Umsetzung des Überfalls überzeugte mich nicht.“

Trotz seiner Vorbehalte räumte Cox ein, dass die Fans die Episode begeistert aufgenommen haben.

„Ich war strikt dagegen, doch unzählige Zuschauer sagen mir, wie sehr sie diese Folge lieben“, reflektierte Cox. „Es beweist, wie subjektiv Geschichtenerzählen ist – was für mich nicht funktioniert, spricht andere tief an. Überraschenderweise zählt sie laut Disneys internen Metriken zu ihren bestbewerteten Shows.“

Unsere Kritik zu den Episoden 5 und 6 lobte die Folge: „Meisterhaft umgesetzt, liefert diese Stunde pausenlose Unterhaltung und zeigt perfekt Matt Murdocks heroisches Wesen – sogar ohne Daredevil-Anzug. Wenige Marvel-Produktionen erreichen dieses Level durchgängiger Spannung und puren Vergnügens.“
