Der jüngste Finanzbericht von SEGA deutet auf eine mögliche weltweite Veröffentlichung von Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X) hin. Aus dem Bericht geht hervor, dass die Leistung des Spiels in seinen ersten Startregionen den Erwartungen entspricht und eine weltweite Expansion derzeit in Betracht gezogen wird.

Persona 5: The Phantom X Global Release Being Considered by SEGA

P5X wurde von Atlus lizenziert und zunächst in einer offenen Soft-Launch-Betaphase eingeführt. Es debütierte am 12. April 2024 in China, gefolgt von Hongkong, Macau, Südkorea und Taiwan am 18. April. Perfect World Games (Südkorea) veröffentlicht den Titel, entwickelt von Black Wings Game Studio (China).

Die Spieler schlüpfen in die Rolle von „Wonder“, einem High-School-Schüler bei Tag und einem Phantomdieb bei Nacht. Zusammen mit Joker (aus der Hauptserie Persona 5) und einem neuen Charakter, YUI, bekämpft Wonder Ungerechtigkeit mithilfe von Personas.

Wonders erste Persona, Janosik, ist von der slowakischen Folklore inspiriert und verkörpert einen Robin Hood-artigen Archetyp. Das Spiel behält die Kernelemente des rundenbasierten Kampfes, der sozialen Links und des Dungeon-Crawlings der Persona-Reihe bei und integriert ein Gacha-System für die Charakterakquise.

Neuer Roguelike-Modus: Heart Rail

Ein aktuelles Gameplay-Video zeigt den neuen Roguelike-Modus „Heart Rail“, ähnlich dem Simulated Universe von Honkai: Star Rail. Dieser Modus bietet Power-Up-Auswahl, abwechslungsreiche Karten und Belohnungen für den Abschluss der Etappe.

SEGAs starke Leistung und Zukunftspläne

SEGA meldete solide Umsätze für die Kategorie „Vollständiges Spiel“ und verwies auf Erfolge wie Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (1 Million Einheiten in der ersten Woche), Persona 3 Reload ( 1 Million Einheiten in der ersten Woche – Atlus' schnellste aller Zeiten) und Football Manager 2024 (9 Millionen Spieler).

Mit Blick auf die Zukunft restrukturiert SEGA sein Geschäft und schafft ein neues „Gaming Business“-Segment, das den Schwerpunkt auf Online-Gaming legt, mit dem Ziel, eine starke Präsenz auf dem nordamerikanischen Markt aufzubauen. Die Prognose für das Geschäftsjahr 2025 sieht steigende Umsätze und Gewinne vor, wobei das Segment der Komplettspiele 93 Milliarden Yen (ca. 597 Millionen US-Dollar) anstrebt. Ein neues Sonic-Spiel soll nächstes Jahr ebenfalls erscheinen.
