*Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana* may technically serve as a reimagining of *Ys III*, but it stands on its own as an excellent entry point for newcomers to the series. While Dularn offers players their first real test, it’s Ellefale, The Azure Queen of Death, who truly raises the stakes. This boss battle is intense and unforgiving, especially if you're new to the game or playing on a higher difficulty setting. One key takeaway—maintain your distance. Getting too close means inviting more hits than you can handle.
Ellefale has a significant amount of health even on normal difficulty, making her a tough opponent early on. However, with the right tools like the Ignis Bracelet, this fight becomes manageable—and even thrilling—with proper strategy and positioning.
Unlike some games where you can rush in and win through raw power, *Ys Memoire* demands preparation before facing Ellefale. It’s highly recommended to grind until your HP exceeds 100 to increase survivability. You may also consider using Raval Ore to upgrade your armor, though saving it for later upgrades might be wiser.
Avoid rushing Ellefale at the start of the fight. She begins just out of reach of basic attacks, and charging in puts you at risk of taking heavy damage. Instead, rely on the Ignis Bracelet to launch fireballs from a safe distance. Position yourself across the arena to avoid most of her attacks while dishing out consistent damage.
Ellefale’s moveset is limited but powerful. Each attack can strip away large portions of your health if not respected. Timing, positioning, and patience are your greatest allies here.
While none of Ellefale’s individual attacks are overly complex, the way they combine can severely limit your movement options. Mastering evasion and understanding her telegraphs will make all the difference. Here's a breakdown of her four main attacks:
Ellefale launches a fast-spinning disc toward your position. Dodging requires precise timing—there isn’t enough time to cross the arena, so jumping is your only option. Jump too early, and you land on the disc. Jump too late, and you get hit before leaving the ground. Ellefale telegraphs this move by raising her right arm. A single misstep can cost you dearly.
This thin blade attack is straightforward to dodge—simply run left or right. However, Ellefale often combines this with other attacks, such as the spinning disc, forcing you to jump and strafe simultaneously. Her telegraph involves raising her right arm before executing the slash.
One of the trickier attacks to avoid. Ellefale leans forward slightly before launching multiple beams of lightning. To evade successfully, run backward and then jump just before impact. Running toward her or failing to time the jump correctly will result in being struck. Pay attention to her stance—raising both arms signals this incoming assault.
Ellefale creates a slow-moving sphere that rolls toward you, limiting your available space. While easy to outrun alone, it becomes dangerous when paired with other attacks. Ellefale telegraphs this move by lifting both wings. Stay aware of your surroundings and maintain escape routes when possible.
