Escape from Tarkov's 0.16.0.0 update is here, bringing a massive overhaul to the game! While technical work continues, Battlestate Games has unveiled a comprehensive changelog and a new trailer showcasing the exciting additions.

Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update

This update introduces the thrilling new "Khorovod" event. Players participate in special tasks for unique rewards, culminating in a special Khorovod mode where the objective is to illuminate and defend a Christmas tree across six diverse locations.

A significant addition is the "Prestige" system, designed to extend the enjoyment for dedicated grinders. Similar to systems in other games, once players reach level 55, complete specific quests, and accumulate sufficient resources, they can reset their character. This reset retains some equipment, granting rewards unaffected by wipes, including achievements, cosmetic items, and additional tasks. While only two prestige levels are initially available, eight more are planned.

Further notable changes include:

• Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
• Frostbite Effect: A new status effect reducing vision and stamina when characters catch a cold. Alcohol, warmth, and shelter provide relief.
• Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
• Customs Map Rework: Revamped textures, new objects, and points of interest.
• New Weaponry: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
• Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring specific items for discovery.
• New Questline: A new quest chain for the BTR Driver.
• Hideout Customization: Expanded hideout customization options.

The update also includes the standard Escape from Tarkov wipe, meaning players will have a fresh start and plenty to explore once servers are live.
