If you've been following us for a while, you're likely familiar with our parent company's event, Pocket Gamer Connects. One of our standout segments at this event is the Big Indie Pitch, where we showcase innovative indie games to a panel of judges. Today, we're excited to spotlight one of the top runners-up that caught our eye: the math-battling roguelike, Talystro!

At first glance, Talystro might blend in with the crowd of deckbuilding roguelikes, a genre that's currently booming. However, take a closer look, and you'll discover what sets it apart. In Talystro, you step into the shoes of the math mouse, embarking on a quest to overthrow the nefarious Necrodicer. The game ingeniously blends card and dice mechanics, where you must combine dice rolls and cards to hit a target number that matches and defeats the numerical monsters you face. But beware, as you're limited to a certain number of dice per turn, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay.

ytCrypt of the NecrodicerTalystro boasts a unique visual style, mixing rubber hose animation with a fantasy aesthetic reminiscent of educational math games from childhood. While it doesn't demand advanced math skills, the gameplay is engaging and easily understood at a glance, making it both accessible and captivating.

Set to launch in March, Talystro promises a simple-to-learn yet challenging-to-master experience—a formula that many deckbuilders struggle to perfect. This balance is what we believe will truly resonate with players upon its release.
