Rey Dau is the inaugural dragon monster you'll encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. This creature wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to similar attacks. However, it's particularly vulnerable to water and ice. Aim for its head, which boasts a 4-star weakness, or its wings, with a 3-star weakness, for maximum impact.

Avoid targeting its resilient torso. While the head can be tricky to hit, the tail serves as a viable alternative. Steer clear of its well-protected legs. For status ailments, utilize all except Stun and Paralysis, as Rey Dau's lightning element makes these ineffective.

Use a Flash Pod

To swiftly tackle Rey Dau, deploy a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing a window for precise attacks. When the dragon unleashes its lightning attack, target its glowing red horns for significant damage. Activate Focus Mode to enhance your aim.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

Survival becomes easier with gear that enhances elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces incoming damage and offers resistance to Lightning and Fire. Complement this with a meal that boosts your elemental resistance.

If dodging is challenging, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs. This spot minimizes the monster's attack opportunities, as it primarily targets areas in front and behind.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's aerial maneuvers require environmental awareness. Utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree in the open plains for temporary stuns. Be cautious when the dragon returns to its nest, as it executes a follow-up lightning attack that can easily stun you. Exercise patience to avoid a fatal shock.
