Squad Busters has just released an exciting new Hero update, shifting the game's focus from squaddies to powerful Heroes. Now, you can harness the unique abilities and passives of these Heroes, while your squaddies provide essential support. Squad Busters has seen fluctuating popularity since its launch. Although it remains a fun and accessible MOBA-like game, it hasn't quite reached the heights Supercell initially hoped for. However, this latest update might just be the lure that brings skeptical players back for another round.

This update is billed as the most ambitious for any of Supercell's games in over 15 years, fundamentally altering Squad Busters' gameplay. Your squad is now divided into Heroes and Squaddies. Heroes are your central figures, equipped with their own unique abilities and passives, while Squaddies operate similarly to the previous units and can be upgraded during matches. Additionally, you no longer need to stop your squad to attack; doing so will simply boost your squaddies' attack speed.

This update significantly changes the core of Squad Busters, making your squad more durable and shifting the game from a pseudo-RTS MOBA to a more traditional MOBA experience. The emphasis is now on leveraging your Heroes' 'power moves' with the support of your squaddies.

While some may feel these changes deviate from Squad Busters' original design, the shift towards Heroes makes player actions more impactful. Though I initially enjoyed Squad Busters, I found myself not returning to it frequently. The new focus on Heroes could very well reignite my interest, and potentially yours too.
