Smite 2 is set to launch its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of this third-person action MOBA. Following its Alpha phase in 2024, Smite 2 promises to deliver new game modes, Gods, Aspects, and much more, welcoming a broader audience to experience the next generation of Smite.

As a sequel to the acclaimed 2014 MOBA, Smite, Smite 2 has been developed using Unreal Engine 5, offering a completely revamped gaming experience. Players can embody legendary figures and Gods drawn from various global mythologies, ranging from Greek to Japanese deities. Since its Alpha launch in September, players have had access to 14 Gods, with plans to expand the roster to nearly 50 by the end of January 2025. The latest updates provide insights into what fans can anticipate in the coming year, beyond just new characters.

The developers have confirmed that Smite 2 will enter its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025, offering players a chance to experience firsthand the enhancements over the original game. Alongside this announcement, Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, will be introduced. Aladdin serves as a Magical Assassin and Jungler, capable of running on walls and trapping enemies in his lamp. The game will also see the return of fan-favorite characters such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, albeit with updated abilities.

When Does the Smite 2 F2P Open Beta Begin?

  • January 14, 2025

A new 3v3 game mode, Joust, set in an Arthurian-themed environment, will be available during the F2P open beta. Players can navigate the map using Teleporters and use Stealth Grass for strategic ambushes. The same map will host Duel, a new 1v1 mode. The Aspects feature will add a fresh layer to gameplay, allowing players to exchange certain aspects of their God's abilities for potent boons. For instance, with Aspects enabled, Athena can no longer teleport to an ally to shield them but can instead teleport to enemies to debilitate them. During the open beta, 20 out of Smite 2's 45 dynamic Gods will have Aspects, with more to be introduced later.

Smite 2 will also introduce several quality-of-life improvements, including Role Guides, tutorial messages for new players, PC text chat, enhanced item store navigation, death recaps, and more. The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will occur at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19, spotlighting this new MOBA. Smite 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
