Hollow Knight: Silksong will soon have a playable demo. This exciting opportunity comes as part of a special exhibition at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture. Read on for details about the upcoming showcase and what Silksong enthusiasts can expect from the event.

One of the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is finally giving fans a chance to play it. This long-awaited opportunity arrives via the National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI) in Australia, which will feature a playable build. This new version is likely a significant evolution from the initial "proof of concept" demo shown at E3 2019.
ACMI will host a video game exhibition titled Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, through February 8, 2026. The event will highlight several landmark titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the homegrown Australian hit, Hollow Knight: Silksong. Attendees can experience exclusive custom builds, view original design materials and concept art, and see iconic objects from these games.
In a conversation with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong. They stated, "Since its announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has captivated indie game fans worldwide. We are thrilled to showcase the design brilliance of this South Australian-made game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September."

Information about Silksong has been limited since the 2019 reveal, leaving fans to piece together rumors about its release. ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition aims to break this silence by offering fresh insights and details about the highly anticipated sequel.
The ACMI co-curators elaborated on the exhibit's content, saying, "Our Silksong displays explore the game's artistry in detail – from the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet's movements and attacks to the design logic behind its most demanding boss battles. And, of course, visitors will be able to play the game right in the gallery."

While the Australian exhibition hints at a potential launch window, an official release date for Silksong has not been confirmed. The game was recently featured in a Switch 2 Direct, reaffirming its planned 2025 release. With the Game Worlds exhibit concluding in 2026, hopeful players are speculating a release could coincide with the exhibition's opening in September or occur sometime during its run.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest news and updates on the game, be sure to explore our related article below.
