Netflix has officially teamed up with the creators of the acclaimed video game Sifu to bring its intense narrative to the big screen. Initially announced in 2022, the film adaptation was being developed by Story Kitchen in collaboration with Sloclap, the game's developer. However, according to Deadline, the production team has now expanded significantly, promising an even more exciting project.

The streaming giant has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, may still be part of the project, his current role remains uncertain.

Adding to the impressive lineup, Chad Stahelski, the director behind the John Wick series, along with his production company 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently working on another high-profile video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, further showcasing his expertise in bringing video game worlds to life on screen.

Released in 2022, Sifu quickly became a sensation, selling over one million copies within its first three weeks. The game follows the journey of a young martial artist seeking vengeance for their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that resurrects them after death—but at the cost of aging them several years—the protagonist navigates a perilous world filled with danger and intrigue.
