Golden Hands are formidable foes that can randomly appear in any dungeon in Persona 4 Golden, whether roaming the overworld or leaping from chests. As you progress through the game, each dungeon's Golden Hands become increasingly tougher, making them some of the most challenging enemies to defeat. However, the payoff is significant; vanquishing these elusive adversaries rewards your party with a massive amount of XP, making the effort to defeat them well worth it. In Yukiko's Castle, you'll encounter the Happiness Hands, which are the Golden Hands of this early stage. Here's how to effectively take them down.

Happiness Hand Affinities In Persona 4 Golden

Happiness Hands possess a robust resistance to all forms of elemental damage, making traditional magical attacks largely ineffective. The key to defeating them lies in exploiting their vulnerability to Physical damage. While Almighty damage is typically a go-to strategy for dealing with Golden Hands, it's not viable this early in the game. Happiness Hands don't deal much damage themselves and often spend turns idling, but they are notorious for fleeing at the first opportunity.

If a Happiness Hand manages to hit a party member's weakness or scores a critical hit, it will attempt to escape. When facing a group, it's crucial to focus your attacks on a single Happiness Hand to maximize your chances of defeating at least one before they all flee.

How To Beat Happiness Hands In Persona 4 Golden

The primary strategy for overcoming Happiness Hands involves fusing an Orobas Persona, which comes equipped with the skill Hysterical Slap. This skill is advantageous as it strikes twice and has a chance to inflict Rage, which can keep the Happiness Hand from fleeing by causing it to use its basic attack repeatedly. Orobas can be created through the following fusions:

  • Apsaras + Forneus
  • Apsaras + Slime

Before engaging a Happiness Hand, ensure your party is fully healed to focus solely on unleashing physical attacks that consume HP. Have Yosuke utilize Sonic Punch, Chie employ Skull Cracker, and the Protagonist deploy Hysterical Slap, repeating this sequence until the Happiness Hand falls. Success in this battle often hinges on luck due to the limited options available early in the game, but defeating a Happiness Hand can significantly boost your party's levels.

When you manage to knock down a Happiness Hand, refrain from using an all-out-attack unless you're confident it will be the finishing blow. Otherwise, the Happiness Hand might recover and escape.
