Palworld Mobile Development Underway by PUBG Studio

Krafton and Pocket Pair are joining forces to bring a mobile version of the popular monster-catching game, Palworld, to mobile devices. Krafton, known for PUBG, will leverage its expertise to adapt the core gameplay for a mobile audience through its subsidiary, PUBG Studios. This licensing agreement signifies a significant expansion of the Palworld intellectual property.

However, many details surrounding the mobile adaptation remain undisclosed. The original Palworld game launched on Xbox and Steam earlier this year, achieving considerable success and recently releasing on PlayStation 5 (excluding Japan). The Japan-specific delay is reportedly linked to an ongoing legal dispute with Nintendo over alleged patent infringement concerning the mechanics of capturing creatures. Nintendo claims patent infringement related to the way players "throw" items to capture creatures, while Pocket Pair denies knowledge of the specific patents in question.

Pocket Pair’s current focus on expanding the existing Palworld game makes a mobile port a challenging undertaking. This is where Krafton’s experience comes in, providing valuable support and resources. However, it's crucial to temper expectations, as the mobile project is likely in its early stages of development.

Further details regarding the Palworld mobile version—such as whether it will be a direct port or a modified adaptation—are eagerly awaited. For now, players can explore the official Steam page to learn more about the game's existing features and gameplay.
