Palworld developer Pocketpair is finalizing its highly anticipated cross-play update, slated for release in late March 2025. A recent X/Twitter post confirmed this update will enable multiplayer across all platforms and introduce world transfer for Pals. While specifics remain limited beyond a promotional image depicting a Palworld battle, Pocketpair Communications Director and Publishing Manager John 'Bucky' Buckley hinted at "a few little surprises" included in the March update.

This is excellent news for the 32 million players who've enjoyed Palworld since its January 2024 early access launch. Pocketpair's 2025 content roadmap is ambitious, encompassing cross-play, a concluding scenario, and additional content for this popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld's launch was a phenomenal success. Priced at $30 on Steam and simultaneously available on Xbox and PC Game Pass, it shattered sales and concurrent player records. The game's success was so significant that Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe stated the developer couldn’t handle the massive profits generated. Capitalizing on this momentum, Pocketpair swiftly signed a deal with Sony, establishing Palworld Entertainment to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.

However, a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company casts a shadow. They are seeking "an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages," alleging Palworld infringes on "multiple" patent rights. Pocketpair has responded by identifying the patents in question and modifying the Pal summoning mechanic. The developer remains resolute, declaring: “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
