Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not feature official mod support. However, this hasn't deterred the dedicated fans who have already released a handful of unofficial mods. Just hours after Bethesda and Virtuos shadow-dropped their reimagining of Oblivion for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a selection of community mods surfaced on the popular website Nexus Mods. These early mods primarily offer small customization options, demonstrating the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

PlayAt the time of this article's publication, an impressive 22 mods were available on the site. The first mod to be released allows PC players to personalize their desktop by replacing the default *Oblivion Remastered* shortcut with one of two images featuring the game's infamous Adoring Fan. Several mods enable players to skip the introduction screens featuring the Bethesda and Virtuos logos. Others, such as one that modifies the Wizard's Fury spell and another that removes the compass, are already providing options to customize gameplay.

Despite Bethesda typically supporting modding in their games, they announced that Oblivion Remastered would not include official mod support. This was clarified in an FAQ section on their website, confirming that players would need to look elsewhere for mods.

Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming uploaded their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that Oblivion Remastered is still conducive to modding. "This is just to prove modding is possible," they stated in the mod's description. "Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept."
