In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, your journey through the Ruins of Wyveria will lead you to confront the formidable Ebony Odogaron, the guardian of this ancient locale. Known for its unparalleled speed, this monster is one of the fastest creatures you'll encounter in the game, making it a challenging adversary.
Known Habitats: Ruins of Wyveria
Breakable Parts: Head, Tail, and Legs
Recommended Elemental Attack: Water
Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (3x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (-)
Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap, Flash Pod
Ebony Odogaron's speed can be overwhelming, often leaving players struggling to keep up. To counter this, stunning the monster is crucial. You can find a Flashfly in the vicinity to trigger and stun Ebony Odogaron temporarily. Additionally, crafting Flash Pods to shoot at the monster can provide another means to immobilize it, giving you precious moments to attack or regroup.
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can be daunting, as you'll spend much of your time dodging its relentless attacks. To improve your chances, consider bringing teammates into the fight. Use SOS signals to call for backup; if no other players join, NPCs can serve as effective shields, drawing the monster's attention away from you. This allows you to focus on evasion until the monster shifts its focus to your allies.
During the battle, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks hanging above. Using your slinger to pull these down can stun Ebony Odogaron for several seconds, though this tactic can only be used once per fight. Complement this with Pitfall and Shock Traps, which can immobilize the creature two more times, giving you additional opportunities to deal damage.
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which, while not directly harmful, will hinder your ability to apply elemental or status effects with your attacks. To counteract this, carry Nulberries to remove the status effect, or equip decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its impact.
Inflicting Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron is highly recommended. This status effect will immobilize the monster for a short period, significantly easing the fight. If you can knock it down while it's over roots, it might become further entangled, providing you with more time to attack.
The head of Ebony Odogaron is its most vulnerable spot, boasting a 3-star weakness. Targeting this area will maximize your damage output, though it also puts you at greater risk of being attacked. If you prefer a safer approach, aim for its forelegs and tail. While these parts are less damaging to hit, you may still break them, further weakening the monster.

Capturing Ebony Odogaron in *Monster Hunter Wilds* involves using a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, you must first weaken the monster, reducing its health to 20 percent or less. Only then will the tranquilizer effectively subdue it. If you attempt to capture it too early, the monster will break free, forcing you to continue the fight.
