Leak: Ubisoft is developing Rainbow Six Siege 2 with improved graphics

A recent leak from an insider, "fraxiswinning," suggests Ubisoft will unveil Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitational 2025, scheduled for February 14-16 at the MGM Music Hall.

This purported sequel, codenamed "Siege X," reportedly utilizes a revamped engine, boasting enhanced visuals through updated textures and character models. Furthermore, the source claims Ubisoft plans to forgo returning temporary events from the original game in favor of entirely new content. The projected release date is mid-2025, coinciding with the second season of the game's tenth year of support.

This contradicts previous statements by Rainbow Six Siege creative director Alexander Karpazis, who downplayed the need for a full sequel. However, if the leak proves accurate, Ubisoft's stance appears to have shifted.

It's crucial to remember that this information remains unconfirmed. Until an official announcement from Ubisoft, all details should be considered speculation.

Meanwhile, the Six Invitational 2025, the Rainbow Six Siege World Championship, is rapidly approaching. Twenty teams will compete in Boston for a $3,000,000 prize pool and the championship title. Oxygen Esports, winners of the North American Last Chance Qualifier, secured the final qualifying spot.

The twenty-team format is unusual. While Ubisoft might retain last year's structure – four round-robin groups of five teams, followed by a double-elimination playoff – an alternative format remains a possibility. The anticipated playoff structure involves a first-place bye, fourth-place entry into the lower bracket, remaining teams starting in the upper bracket, and the elimination of each group's last-place finisher.
