Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Appearance in 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow'

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in June 2026. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter with superhuman strength and immortality, hails from the planet Czarnia and is the last survivor of his race, similar to Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983.

Momoa, who has expressed his long-standing admiration for the character, shared his excitement about portraying Lobo in an interview with ScreenRant. He hinted at a brief but impactful appearance, emphasizing the character's rough and gruff nature and the iconic bike. "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa stated, acknowledging the aesthetic similarities between himself and Lobo. "It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he's pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike's really cool."

Despite Lobo's significant presence in the comic world, Momoa clarified that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is primarily Supergirl's story, with Lobo making a fleeting appearance. "It's her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit," he added.

The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, which follows the story of an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll seeking revenge for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. Milly Alcock, known from House of the Dragon, stars as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, signaling the start of production. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second film in the rebooted DCU, following Gunn's Superman, set to hit theaters this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for release in September 2026.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.
