Infinity Nikki, the highly anticipated fashion-focused open-world game, unveils its development journey in a new behind-the-scenes documentary. Launching December 4th (EST/PST) for PC and PlayStation, alongside mobile, this 25-minute film showcases the dedication and passion poured into creating this ambitious title.

Miraland's Genesis

The project's inception dates back to December 2019, when the Nikki series producer envisioned an open-world adventure for Nikki. Secrecy shrouded the early stages, with a separate office used to maintain confidentiality. The team, assembled over a year, focused on concept development and foundational infrastructure.

Game designer Sha Dingyu highlights the unique challenge of integrating the established dress-up mechanics of the Nikki IP into an open-world setting. This required a completely new framework, built iteratively through extensive research.

The documentary emphasizes the team's commitment to evolving the Nikki franchise, which began with NikkuUp2U in 2012. Instead of a simple mobile sequel, the team aimed for a significant technological and product upgrade, driven by a desire to innovate and expand the IP's potential. This dedication is symbolized by the producer's clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, a testament to the team's passion.

The video offers glimpses of Miraland's breathtaking landscapes, focusing on the Grand Millewish Tree and its inhabitants, the Faewish Sprites. The vibrant world is populated by NPCs with dynamic routines, adding realism and depth to the experience, as noted by game designer Xiao Li.

A Team of Titans

The game's stunning visuals are a result of both the core Nikki team's expertise and the addition of international talent. Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, Lead Sub Director, brings his experience from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, known for his work on The Witcher 3, contributes his artistic vision.

From its official start on December 28th, 2019, to its December 4th, 2024 launch, the team dedicated over 1814 days to bringing Infinity Nikki to life. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through Miraland with Nikki and Momo this December!
