Epic Games recently rolled out a major update to Fortnite, which included significant changes to the user interface. This update came right after the conclusion of the holiday Winterfest event, which spanned 14 days and offered players free cosmetics and exciting collaborations with celebrities like Shaq, Snoop Dogg, and Mariah Carey.
Currently, Fortnite is navigating through Chapter 6 Season 1, which has been a refreshing change for many gamers. The season introduced a new map and a revamped movement system, enhancing players' ability to move across the battlefield. Additionally, Epic Games has enriched the game with new modes such as Ballistic, Fortnite OG, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life. Despite these positive updates, not all changes have been well-received by the community.
On January 14, Epic Games released an update that brought a plethora of new content and cosmetics to Fortnite. A notable change was the redesign of the quest UI, which has sparked dissatisfaction among many fans. The new system organizes quests into large collapsible blocks, a departure from the previous straightforward list format. While some players appreciate the clean look initially, the increase in submenus has caused frustration.
The new UI design aims to streamline the process of finding quests for different game modes, which was previously cumbersome as it required switching between modes in the lobby. This improvement has been acknowledged by some fans, especially for modes like Reload and Fortnite OG within the battle royale setting.
However, the primary concern raised by many players is the impact of the new UI during matches. Time is critical in Fortnite, and the updated system requires more menu navigation to locate quests, leading to complaints about being eliminated prematurely. This issue has been particularly noted during the completion of Fortnite's new Godzilla quests.
While the quest UI changes have stirred controversy, Epic Games has also made a move that's been well-received: the integration of most Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings. This addition provides players with more cosmetic customization options, enhancing their loadout-building experience. Despite the UI-related frustrations, many fans remain optimistic about Fortnite's future and are eager to see what Epic Games has in store next.
