Fake 'Baldur's Gate 3' Mobile Port Surfaces on App Store

Fake

A fraudulent Baldur's Gate 3 mobile port has surfaced on the iOS App Store, prompting a warning to gamers. This fake app, deceptively presented with modified screenshots and a fabricated mobile HUD, is free initially but demands a steep $29.99 monthly subscription fee. Crucially, there is no official mobile version of Baldur's Gate 3.

The app, titled "Baldurs Gate 3 - Mobile Turuk" and attributed to developer "Dmytro Turuk," lacks any mention of Larian Studios or the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, raising immediate red flags. While visually convincing to some, the absence of these key details should alert potential users to its illegitimate nature.

Data Theft Concerns:

Beyond the deceptive pricing, the app's terms of service reveal a concerning data collection policy, potentially logging user IP addresses and other personal information. This underscores the serious risks associated with downloading and using unofficial apps.

While currently absent from the Android store, this incident serves as a cautionary tale for both iOS and Android users. The principle remains: if an offer seems too good to be true, especially regarding a highly anticipated mobile port of a popular game like Baldur's Gate 3, it likely is.

Larian Studios has not announced any plans for a Baldur's Gate 3 mobile release. However, previous installments in the series (Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2) are available on mobile platforms. Furthermore, Baldur's Gate 3 is accessible via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Anyone who has downloaded the fraudulent app should promptly uninstall it to mitigate potential data breaches and financial losses. Always verify the authenticity of apps through official channels before downloading.
