Conquering a level in the co-op game *R.E.P.O.* is no small feat, and reaching the Service Station with your squad marks a significant victory. Here, you have the opportunity to purchase various weapons and upgrades, including the highly valuable Energy Crystals. Let's dive into what these Energy Crystals do in *R.E.P.O.* and how you can acquire more of them.
Energy Crystals, those gleaming yellow gems you'll find at the Service Station, become available after you complete your first level. Priced between $7,000 and $9,000, they are most affordable early in the game when difficulty levels are lower. If you manage to navigate the initial challenges without too much wear and tear from monsters, you'll have a better chance to stock up on these crystals right from the start.

Once you purchase an Energy Crystal, it triggers the appearance of an Energy Container/Station within your R.E.P.O. truck. This container is a game-changer, enabling you to recharge essential tools such as the Valuables or Extraction Tracker by simply placing them inside. This not only cuts down on the need to buy replacements but also saves your team money over time. To recharge your items, place them in the bin next to the container, which is marked by a distinctive yellow lightning bolt, and watch them power up, ready to tackle the next Clown, Gnome, or Shadow Child.
After purchasing, Energy Crystals will automatically appear in the container, so there's no need to worry about them not being in the truck. However, they do lose energy with use and have a limited lifespan, eventually needing replacement to keep the container functional. Each crystal can typically refill about four battery sections of an item, and six crystals can fully recharge the Energy Container.
You can only buy Energy Crystals at the Service Station, and they come with a hefty price tag. To ensure you have enough cash to purchase these essential items, it's crucial to loot and scavenge as many valuables as possible within each level. Only by passing a level with sufficient funds will the Taxman send you to the Service Station.
In particularly challenging locations, it might be wise to aim to finish the level with just enough money to progress, rather than risking everything and losing your hard-earned valuables.
And that's the lowdown on what Energy Crystals do in *R.E.P.O.* and how you can secure more of them to keep your team powered up and ready for action.
*R.E.P.O. is available now on PC.*
