Elden Ring Nightreign: Release Date Announced

Author:Kristen Update:May 23,2025

Elden Ring Nightreign, the eagerly anticipated standalone co-operative spin-off from FromSoftware, is set to launch on May 30, 2025, priced at $40. This thrilling addition to the Elden Ring universe will be available across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, as confirmed by publisher Bandai Namco.

Ahead of the full release, a network test will be conducted exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The test is scheduled from February 14 to February 17, 2025, but will not be available throughout the entire duration. Instead, players can participate in five distinct three-hour sessions:

  • February 14: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ET
  • February 14: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ET
  • February 15: 11am-2pm PT / 2pm-5pm ET
  • February 16: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ET
  • February 16: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ET

This network test is described as a "preliminary verification test" aimed at evaluating the online system's functionality and performance. Bandai Namco emphasizes the importance of participant cooperation to enhance the final product.

Elden Ring Nightreign introduces players to a parallel universe to the original Elden Ring, starting at the Roundtable Hold. Players can choose from eight unique characters, each equipped with distinct abilities and powerful Ultimates. The game unfolds in Limveld, an ever-changing environment where players must navigate through a shrinking map influenced by the Night's Tide. The game's dynamic nature means players will encounter different enemies, rewards, and landscapes with each session.

Throughout their journey, players will face nightly boss battles, culminating in a showdown with the Nightlord on the third night. While solo play is an option, teamwork is highly encouraged, as players must combine their unique abilities to overcome challenges. Those who fall in battle can still progress by collecting relics to customize and upgrade their characters, tailoring them to their preferred play style.

Elden Ring Nightreign promises a unique, ever-evolving experience, with each session akin to navigating an open-air dungeon. Defeating formidable foes and exploring deeper into the map will yield powerful weapons and significant Rune rewards. Sites of Grace offer opportunities to level up and gain crucial power, ensuring that every journey contributes to lasting stat bonuses.

Last year, IGN had the privilege of going hands-on with an early build of Elden Ring Nightreign at FromSoftware. Our impressions were overwhelmingly positive, noting that the game transforms the methodical exploration of Elden Ring into fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled speedruns.
