New EA Sports UFC 5 Update Adds Undefeated Fighter

EA Sports UFC 5 receives a significant update on January 9th, launching at 1 PM ET for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Patch 1.18 introduces undefeated fighter Azamat Murzakanov and addresses several bugs.

EA Vancouver, the developer, continues to support UFC 5, adding content despite rumors of a sequel. The game's initial launch in October 2023 faced criticism for its limited fighter roster. However, consistent updates have improved roster parity with current UFC rankings, now reaching 98% for the top ten.

This update, marking the start of UFC 5's second year, features Murzakanov in the Light Heavyweight division. He boasts impressive stats: a 97 power punch rating, 95 accuracy, and 94 ground striking. In addition to Murzakanov, three new alter egos for existing fighters will be included, though their identities remain undisclosed.

Beyond the new fighter and alter egos, patch 1.18 includes minor bug fixes and a gameplay adjustment. The stamina cost of the muscle modifier is reduced from x3.125 to 2.5. Bug fixes address incorrect translations in some languages, a Ranked Championship Stand and Bang issue (match result display), and outdated portraits for Stipe and Jones from UFC 309.

This update coincides with the announcement that EA Sports UFC 5 will be added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play on January 14th. It's important to note that this is an Ultimate tier benefit, not available on the standard tier.
