Castle Doombad is back with a bang—and it’s more diabolical than ever! The iconic tower defense game has officially launched on Android under the title Castle Doombad: Free To Slay. Developed by Grumpyface Studios and brought to mobile by Yodo1, this strategic gem originally made its debut in 2014. Now, it's ready to unleash chaos all over again.
Grumpyface Studios is no stranger to success, having crafted beloved titles such as Steven Universe: Attack the Light, Unleash the Light, and Teeny Titans. Initially, the team planned a full remake of Castle Doombad, but they decided to split the project into two distinct experiences—Free To Slay for mobile platforms and Castle Doombad Classic for PC and consoles.
Speaking of which, Castle Doombad Classic is set to launch later this year on Nintendo Switch and Steam. This remastered edition brings the original 2014 version back to life with enhanced visuals, improved features, and fresh content. And if that weren’t enough, a full sequel—Castle Doombad 2: Muahaha!—is currently in development!
Step into the boots of an evil overlord and let your wicked side run wild. In Castle Doombad: Free To Slay, you’re not just defending territory—you're crafting the most sinister lair imaginable while repelling pesky do-gooders who keep trying to ruin your plans. Say goodbye to being the hero; here, traps and minions are your greatest allies.
Take a peek at the game in action below:
This mobile iteration is free to play, featuring optional in-app purchases and ads. You’ll get access to the complete original experience, including 70 stages, daily challenges, and endless modes. Unlock and upgrade over 30 deadly traps, and collect more than 100 unique items to enhance your fortress of evil.
Personalize your dark domain with the game’s unlockable cosmetics system, known as "spoils." Dress up your Dark Lord and customize his control room with eerie artifacts and sinister decor. Combine these with powerful equippable perks called “Baddie Bonuses” to tailor your gameplay style.
For fans of roguelite mechanics, there’s also an all-new mode titled Dr. Lord Evilstein’s Roguevenge. In this dynamic challenge, you’ll defend procedurally generated castle layouts and gather terrifying Nightmares—each granting unique and wicked abilities to help you dominate your foes.
Ready to spread some mayhem? Download Castle Doombad: Free To Slay now on the Google Play Store and begin your reign of villainy.
