Dead Island 2's latest update brings the much-requested New Game Plus (NG+) mode, allowing players to restart their adventure at heightened difficulty while retaining all acquired items. Players can continue with their leveled-up characters, now featuring three additional skill slots, an increased level cap, powerful new weapons, unique skins, and formidable new enemies.

The update introduces Revenants – enhanced versions of Apex zombies with modified behaviors and abilities designed to test even veteran players. "These changes combined with New Game Plus will drastically increase the challenge," developers stated in their announcement, promising players will face their "hardest test yet."

To help combat the increased threats in NG+, all weapons encountered will be significantly more powerful than standard versions, with more high-tier weapons available. The update also launches Neighbourhood Watch, an innovative hybrid of horde mode and tower defense gameplay. Each five-day session challenges players to defend their base for four days while completing objectives to acquire essential gear before facing the final onslaught.
