Das neueste Update für Dead Island 2 bringt den lang ersehnten New Game Plus (NG+)-Modus, der es Spielern ermöglicht, ihr Abenteuer bei erhöhtem Schwierigkeitsgrad neu zu beginnen, während alle erworbenen Gegenstände erhalten bleiben. Spieler können mit ihren hochlevelten Charakteren weitermachen, die nun drei zusätzliche Skill-Slots, eine erhöhte Level-Obergrenze, mächtige neue Waffen, einzigartige Skins und gefährliche neue Gegner bieten.

Das Update führt Revenants ein – verbesserte Versionen von Apex-Zombies mit modifizierten Verhaltensweisen und Fähigkeiten, die selbst erfahrene Spieler auf die Probe stellen sollen. "Diese Änderungen in Kombination mit New Game Plus werden die Herausforderung drastisch erhöhen", erklärten die Entwickler in ihrer Ankündigung und versprachen, dass Spieler ihrem "bislang härtesten Test" gegenüberstehen werden.

Um im Kampf gegen die erhöhten Bedrohungen in NG+ zu helfen, werden alle gefundenen Waffen erheblich mächtiger sein als die Standardversionen, wobei mehr Hochstufen-Waffen verfügbar sind. Das Update startet ebenfalls "Nachbarschaftswache", eine innovative Mischung aus Horden-Modus und Tower-Defense-Gameplay. Jede Fünf-Tage-Sitzung fordert Spieler heraus, ihre Basis vier Tage lang zu verteidigen und dabei Ziele zu erfüllen, um essentielle Ausrüstung zu erlangen, bevor sie dem finalen Ansturm gegenüberstehen.
