Freedom Wars Remastered is an exhilarating action game set in a dystopian future where players, known as Sinners, battle to defend humanity against monstrous creatures called Abductors. To boost their combat prowess, players can upgrade their weapons and accessories. Upgrading involves enhancing base stats and adding modules for various improvements.

Players can start upgrading their weapons early in the game, eliminating the need to rely solely on mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide provides detailed information on how players can upgrade their weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.

How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered

To begin upgrading weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, players need to advance through the main storyline until they reach Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, CODE 2 Sinners gain access to the Facility Management Function through the Personal Responsibility Portal. Within the Weapon Development Facility, players can manage and upgrade their arsenal. Upgrading requires specific resources and Entitlement Points, but these costs can be lowered by enlisting the help of a Citizen. Different Citizens offer varying reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. While it may seem complex at first, the system becomes intuitive with practice.

Before proceeding with an upgrade, players will see a preview of the changes in their weapon's stats. The Weapon Development Facility also allows for the addition of Elements and experimentation with Modules and Module Slots. To upgrade a weapon to a higher Grade, players must purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.

Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?

In the early stages of the main story, missions typically don't yield high-Grade weapons as rewards. Although players can buy weapons and other combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are mostly limited to Grade Level 1, making upgrading nearly indispensable. One of the CODE 3 Exams requires obtaining higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which allow players to upgrade any weapon of their choice and maintain it, while donating Low-Grade weapons found during missions to reduce their sentence and earn additional Entitlement Points.

The first upgrade in the Weapon Development Facility unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with further achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it particularly attractive for trophy enthusiasts. The significant damage difference between weapons of different Grades motivates players to invest time in enhancing their gear.

Additionally, players can later access the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, which unlocks further into the game.
