Blue Protocol Global Launch Halted, Japan Servers Shut Down

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 11,2025

Bandai Namco has made the tough decision to shut down the servers of *Blue Protocol* in Japan, with the closure set for January 18, 2025. This announcement also brought the unfortunate news that the global release of the game, which was to be facilitated by Amazon Games, has been canceled. The company cited their inability to meet the expectations of fans as the reason behind this difficult choice.

In an official statement, Bandai Namco expressed their deep regret: "We have decided that it is beyond our capabilities to continue providing a service that satisfies everyone." They also conveyed their disappointment in not being able to move forward with the global rollout alongside Amazon Games.

Final Updates and Compensation for Players

As *Blue Protocol* nears its end, Bandai Namco has committed to supporting the game with updates and new content until its final day. Players should note that from now on, the in-game currency, Rose Orbs, will no longer be purchasable or refundable. However, to compensate players, Bandai will distribute 5,000 Rose Orbs on the first day of each month from September 2024 until January 2025, alongside a daily allocation of 250 Rose Orbs. Additionally, starting with the recently released Season 9, all subsequent season passes will be available for free. The final update, Chapter 7, is slated for release on December 18, 2024.

When *Blue Protocol* first launched in Japan in June 2023, it captured the attention of gamers, boasting over 200,000 concurrent players right out of the gate. However, the launch was marred by server issues, prompting emergency maintenance efforts. Over time, the game saw a decline in its player base and faced growing dissatisfaction, ultimately falling short of Bandai Namco's financial expectations. This was highlighted in their financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, and played a significant role in the decision to terminate the game's services.
