Years of fervent pleas from Bloodborne fans for a remastered edition of FromSoftware's masterpiece have reached a fever pitch, fueled by recent Instagram activity.
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a cherished title for many gamers. The desire to revisit Yharnam's gothic streets on modern consoles is widespread. While no official announcement has been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia featuring the game have ignited a wildfire of speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three evocative images showcasing the game's iconic locales, including Djura in Old Yharnam, along with the hashtag "#bloodborne." These images have sent ripples through the Bloodborne community.
Though these posts could simply be a nostalgic throwback, dedicated fans on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for hidden clues hinting at a long-awaited remaster. The timing, particularly with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has only heightened the anticipation.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to share their favorite Bloodborne locations, further stoking the flames of speculation. Comments flooded the post, expressing a collective longing for a Yharnam return, with many humorously suggesting a PC or modern console release as the most iconic location.
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a fiercely loyal following and is frequently cited among the greatest video games ever created. Despite its success, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans often point to the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, this hope is tempered by the lengthy wait for the Demon's Souls remake, leading to concerns that Bloodborne might face a similar delay. As the game's tenth anniversary approaches, the anticipation is palpable.
Fuel was added to the fire in a February interview with Eurogamer, where Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the potential advantages of remastering the game for modern hardware, highlighting improved accessibility for a wider audience.
While Miyazaki's comments offer a spark of hope, the final decision rests not with FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, which FromSoftware fully publishes, Bloodborne's publishing rights are held by Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated that he's unable to comment specifically on Bloodborne's future due to these ownership considerations.
The dedicated Bloodborne fanbase continues to eagerly await a remaster. Despite critical acclaim and strong sales, the game remains confined to the PS4. Whether the current speculation translates into reality remains to be seen.
