"Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 Release Date Announced with 12 New Subclasses"

Larian Studios has officially announced that the much-anticipated Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 will launch on Tuesday, April 15. This update, which has undergone extensive stress testing, is now ready for all players to enjoy.

Patch 8 introduces an impressive array of new content to the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. Players can look forward to 12 new subclasses, enhancing the depth and variety of gameplay. Additional features include a new photo mode, cross-play functionality, and split-screen support for Xbox Series S. Here’s a glimpse at some of the new subclasses in Patch 8:

Bard - College of Glamour
The College of Glamour Bard can heal allies and manipulate enemies, using Mantle of Inspiration to grant 5 temporary hit points and Charmed status to foes. With Mantle of Majesty, you can command Charmed enemies to perform actions like fleeing or dropping their weapons.

Barbarian - Path of Giants
Choose the Path of Giants for enhanced strength and size through Giant’s Rage, which boosts damage with Throw attacks and increases carry capacity.

Cleric - Death Domain
Death Domain clerics gain access to necrotic damage spells and three new necromancy cantrips, including Toll The Dead, which deals 1-8 damage, scaling with previous damage to the target. They can also explode nearby corpses for area damage.

Druid - Circle of Stars
Circle of Stars Druids harness celestial power through three Starry Forms: the Archer for radiant damage, the Chalice for healing, and the Dragon for enhanced constitution rolls, each tailored to different play styles.

Paladin - Oath of the Crown
Paladins sworn to the Oath of the Crown can aid allies and disrupt foes with Righteous Clarity, Divine Allegiance, and strategic interrupts.

Fighter - Arcane Archer
Arcane Archers blend magic and archery with abilities to banish enemies to the Feywild or inflict Psychic damage, potentially blinding foes.

Monk - Drunken Master
Drunken Masters can consume alcohol from their inventory or the environment to recover Ki. Intoxicating Strike buffs armor class and hit chance against drunk targets, while Sobering Realisation deals damage to sober them up.

Ranger - Swarmkeeper
Swarmkeeper Rangers can summon swarms like Cloud of Jellyfish for lightning damage, Flurry of Moths for Psychic damage, and Legion of Bees for piercing damage and knockback, each with teleportation capabilities.

Rogue - Swashbuckler
Swashbuckler Rogues can Blind enemies with sand, Disarm them with a weapon flick, and use Fancy Footwork to avoid opportunity attacks.

Sorcerer - Shadow Magic
Shadow Magic Sorcerers thrive in darkness with Superior Darkvision, Shadow Walk between dim areas, and summon the Hound of Ill Omen to harass foes. Strength of the Grave prevents being downed, ideal for Honour Mode.

Warlock - Hexblade
Hexblade Warlocks pact with Shadowfell entities for magical weapons, cursing enemies and summoning spirits from slain foes to deal necrotic damage and heal the Warlock.

Wizard - Bladesinging
Bladesinging Wizards combine swordplay with spellcasting, featuring new animations, Bladesong for speed, agility, and focus, and enhanced Constitution saving throws.

18 ImagesPatch 8 marks the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, concluding a highly successful period for Larian Studios. The game, which launched in 2023, has received widespread acclaim and maintained strong sales into 2025.

Larian has announced its departure from Baldur’s Gate 3 and the Dungeons & Dragons franchise to focus on a new, undisclosed project, leading to a media blackout. Meanwhile, Hasbro, the owner of D&D, has expressed interest in continuing the series. Speaking at the Game Developers Conference, Dan Ayoub, SVP of digital games at Hasbro, hinted at future plans for Baldur's Gate, stating that they are working on what's next and will have announcements soon.

Ayoub emphasized a measured approach to any future Baldur's Gate projects, noting that while they aim for a Baldur's Gate 4, it will take time to develop. Hasbro is considering various paths and is ready to start sharing some details soon.

Larian will celebrate the release of Patch 8 with a Twitch livestream, featuring senior systems designer Ross Stephens, who will guide viewers through the new changes and additions.
