Azur Lane Scylla Guide – Class, Skills, Gear, and Optimal Fleets

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 22,2025

HMS Scylla is a Super Rare (SR) 6-star light cruiser in Azur Lane, proudly representing the Royal Navy’s Dido-class. She was introduced during the “Revelations of Dust” event and can be obtained through limited construction. Known for her exceptional anti-air capabilities and supportive skills, Scylla is a crucial asset in various fleet compositions. This guide delves into her class, abilities, and gear requirements, helping players maximize her potential. Let’s get started!

Scylla – All Skills Explained

Like other ships in Azur Lane, Scylla boasts three distinct abilities designed to enhance her combat effectiveness. Here's a detailed look:

How Pathetic – Each time Scylla fires her Main Guns, her Firepower (FP) and Anti-Air (AA) stats increase by 1.5% (up to a maximum of 5%) per stack, stacking up to six times. Once fully stacked, she grants a 15% (up to 25%) AA boost to all Vanguard ships with lower AA stats than hers for the remainder of the battle.

Scylla’s Embrace – At the battle's outset, if other ships are present in the Vanguard, Scylla’s Torpedo (TRP) and Evasion (EVA) stats increase by 10% (up to 20%). When she fires her torpedoes, she launches a special barrage (damage scales with skill level), and enemies hit by this barrage take 6% increased aircraft damage for 6 seconds. Additionally, if six enemy aircraft are shot down within the Vanguard’s AA gun range, allied carriers (CVs and CVLs) receive a 5% (up to 15%) damage reduction while Scylla remains afloat.

All Out Assault – This skill activates a special barrage every 15 (reducible to 10 at max level) Main Gun attacks. When equipped with a Destroyer (DD) Main Gun, the activation requirement drops to six attacks.

Gear Recommendations for Scylla

To optimize Scylla’s performance, consider the following equipment:

Main Gun: A Destroyer Main Gun can trigger her All Out Assault skill more frequently, leading to more barrages.

Torpedoes: Opt for high-damage torpedoes to leverage her torpedo efficiency and the special barrage from her “Scylla’s Embrace” skill.

Anti-Air Guns: With her high AA stat and role, equipping the best AA guns available will boost her fleet protection against aerial threats.

Auxiliary Equipment: Items that enhance her AA capabilities or increase survivability, such as AA radars or repair tools, are highly recommended.

Class and Role in Fleets

As a Dido-class light cruiser, Scylla specializes in anti-air defense within the Vanguard. Her skills not only improve her own combat prowess but also significantly support the fleet, particularly by enhancing AA defenses and mitigating damage to carriers.

Best Fleet Compositions for Scylla

Scylla shines in fleets requiring strong anti-air support and those that can capitalize on her synergies with carriers. Here are some optimal fleet setups:

Carrier-Centric Fleets: Pairing Scylla with carriers allows her “Scylla’s Embrace” skill to reduce incoming damage to these crucial units, enhancing fleet durability.

Vanguard Combinations: Combining Scylla with other light cruisers or destroyers that have complementary skills can create a balanced Vanguard capable of tackling both aerial and surface threats effectively.

In summary, HMS Scylla is a versatile light cruiser whose skills and stats make her an invaluable anti-air asset and a supportive presence in various fleet compositions. Properly equipping and positioning her within a fleet can significantly enhance overall performance, especially in scenarios with heavy aerial opposition.
