Atomfall: First Look at Post-Apocalyptic RPG

Gaming media outlets worldwide have published their ultimate previews for Atomfall, the new post-apocalyptic RPG from Rebellion, the studio behind Sniper Elite. Reviewers praised the title, pointing out that while it takes clear inspiration from Bethesda’s classic franchises, it also builds a distinct personality of its own.

Critics describe Atomfall as a uniquely British interpretation of Fallout. The experience includes survival mechanics, a broad arsenal of weapons, and a host of foes—from cultists and robots to mutants. On top of that, players can look forward to branching questlines and a conversation system that enriches the story.

Exploration is fundamental in Atomfall. The main character is a stranger to this new reality, leaning on NPCs and gear like metal detectors to dig up clues hidden across the landscape. Journalists lauded the focus on environmental narrative and concealed wonders.

Notably, reviewers observed that guns aren’t always dependable in Atomfall. It’s common to find shotguns with scarcely any ammo left, discarded by farmers or raiders. Because of this, melee weapons and bows turn into crucial assets for staying alive.

Taking place in northern England in 1962, Atomfall unfolds following a nuclear incident at the Windscale power facility. Gamers will venture into an expansive exclusion zone overflowing with threats and secrets.

Atomfall launches on March 27 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. It will be on Xbox Game Pass starting day one.
