Alan Wake 2 Hits 2 Million Sales, Achieves Profitability

Author:Kristen Update:Aug 03,2025

Alan Wake 2 has surpassed 2 million units sold globally.

This marks an increase from the 1.3 million copies sold between October 2023 and March 2024, when Remedy, the developer, celebrated the horror sequel as its fastest-selling title to date.

In its latest financial report to investors, Remedy announced that this milestone, combined with the launch of The Lake House expansion and Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, has enabled the game to "generate royalties" after recovering its development and marketing expenses.

Looking forward, the studio revealed that Control 2, developed in collaboration with Annapurna, is "nearing the completion of its production readiness phase" and will enter full production by late February 2025. The Max Payne 1&2 Remake is also "progressing steadily in full production."

Likewise, FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer spin-off of Control, remains in full production after a "successful" closed technical test in December, which allowed external players to evaluate matchmaking and back-end systems. While no official release date has been set, Remedy will self-publish FBC: Firebreak later in 2025.

"We’re well-positioned to kick off our strategic period with ambitious yet achievable goals," said CEO Tero Virtala.

In IGN's Alan Wake 2 review, we gave the sequel a stellar 9/10, describing it as a "remarkable survival horror sequel that overshadows the cult classic original, rendering it a mere rough draft by comparison."
