Los servidores norteamericanos de Final Fantasy XIV experimentaron una interrupción significativa el 5 de enero, lo que afectó a los cuatro centros de datos. Los informes iniciales y las cuentas de los jugadores sugieren que la causa fue un corte de energía localizado en Sacramento, California, posiblemente debido a un transformador roto, en lugar de un ataque DDoS. A diferencia de incidentes anteriores que involucraron ataques DDoS persistentes a lo largo de 2024, esta interrupción parece ser el resultado de circunstancias imprevistas. La restauración del servicio fue gradual: los centros de datos de Aether, Crystal y Primal volvieron a estar en línea antes que Dynamis.
